OUR APPROACH TO SOLAR FARM PROJECTS

  • We aim to provide a one-stop shop for clients looking to develop solar farms in the Philippines
  • All we need to provide an indicative quote is the following:
  • Detailed co-ordinates of the land which has been acquired
  • Details of the topography of the land
  • Recent overhead pictures of the land, to identify vegetation coverage
  • A detailed soil test report
  • The required output of the farm, in terms of megawatts to be provided to the grid
  • With this information we will be able to provide within 1 week:
  • An indicative quote of the total cost of developing the solar farm
  • The elapsed time we expect the project to take from the contract signing/receipt of down-payment to completion

OUR UNIQUE SOLUTION FOR FOUNDATIONS

  • Choosing the best and most cost effective foundation solution for Solar Farm projects in Philippines
  • The critical issue for foundations in Solar Farms is pull-out resistance.  In the Philippines, the requirement for pull-out resistance is as high as anywhere in the world, as the foundations have to deal with frequent typhoons, and design for wind speeds of 250km per hour
  • This means that foundations which rely on skin friction for pull-out resistance have to go deep into the ground.  This is exacerbated by soil conditions in the Philippines, where many of the awarded Solar Farm projects are in areas are low grade soil, with loose, sandy soil which is unsuited to bored piles and more expensive ramming piles
  • Additionally, installing bored piles is extremely difficult in the wet season (June – October), due to the requirement to remove soil and pour concrete in muddy ground conditions with persistent rains.
  • Our solution is to use SCREW PILES, a fully proven and cost-effective technology ideally suited to deal with the weather and soil conditions in the Philippines

ADVANTAGES OF SCREW PILES FOR SOLAR FARMS IN THE PHILIPPINES

  • Screw piles represent the best solution for meeting the extremely high reaction (pull-out) loads associated with PV modules in the Philippines
  • They work extremely well in soft soil conditions – the softer the soil, the greater the advantage screw piles have over bored and ramming piles
  • Screw piles can be installed much faster than other methods – we have developed an unique, proprietary methodology using real time differential GPS to fix the location of the screw pile foundations, guaranteeing accuracy of installation in x, y and z axes, and specially designed piling rigs which install the screw piles four at a time in the precise location
  • Our screw pile solution is fully compliant with The Structural Code of the Philippines and certified by PRC-registered structural engineers

ADVANTAGES OF SCREW PILES OVER CONVENTIONAL FOUNDATIONS

  • COST – Typically provides a substantially lower cost alternative
  • TIME – Typically much quicker to install.  Project are not delayed by wet weather conditions
  • SPACE – Can be installed in severely restricted spaces
  • STRENGTH/CONSISTENCY – Each individual screw pile is adjusted in terms of depth as a result of ground conditions to provide the required, entirely consistent, bearing capacity to support the structure
  • PREDICTABILITY  OF PERFORMANCE – Screw pile design calculations are based on end bearing capacity of the helix with very little reliance on skin friction for bearing capacity.  The helix rests against undisturbed soil
  • NO OVERBURDEN – The pile screws into the ground with no soil displacement – vital for work in wet weather conditions
